The Only Metastatic Cancer Survivor Retreat of its Kind
Breast Cancer Survivors Celebrate at Camp
Many of us fondly remember sleepaway camp — where we played sports, got dirty, laughed a lot, and made friendships that lasted a lifetime. Campowerment sleepaway camp is for women seeking to recapture that magic spirit. Born of nostalgia for carefree childhood summers, the camps — at various locations in Florida, California and upstate New York — are helping women tap into childhood pleasures, and offering them tools to live the lives they've always wanted.
For National Breast Cancer Awareness, Campowerment declared an extra reason to celebrate at its Orange Springs, Fla., location. There, 75 campers, experts, and staff toasted "the girls" — women who had beaten breast cancer and the friends who helped get them through it. The breast cancer survivors and friends pictured here are, from left to right: Patricia Golis, Jackie Bryan, Jodi Allen, Patricia San Pedro, Elena, Jimenez, Margie Jimenez, and Carmen Kuznik.
